Why does it matter?!

Most of my work is in aviation and avionics where wifi is plage along with 'on the go' usb ports on routers so almost 99% is WIRED, and wifi turned off! This type of paranoia extends in my SmartHab project. We don't want my house security to be snooped or hacked! So in the long run matter does not mater. It's a hole you can't close! Wifi is the hole you can't close the door once you open it. Like a wifi printer on you desk, are you that lazy that you can't run a usb cable 3 feet? ~~ Cris H

At my home, between the multiple PCs, Fire TVs, tablets, printers, Wifi connected cameras, lighting controls, printers, cell phones, motion detectors, even my patio smoker/grill is wifi & BLE connected.  Hardwired is not practical except for protected devices, like a dedicated transactional PC.

Both wired and WiFi can be hacked. If you blame wireless and glorify wires, you may be trying to find comfort in an area where there is no comfort.

In some ways the wires make it easier to hack if a wire comes out the wall, or if someone can drill in or enter from under the house (I've been watching Breaking Bad again) because it's very very rare that users would implement much security for the wires; it's possible, e.g. 802.1X would be a start, but I don't know any consumer who would configure that (and if home routers/switches even support that or not). And on the other hand, I bet a load of consumers still use ancient WiFi, more the fault of the service providers who are reluctant to provide their customers with upgraded equipment; my ISP router (admittedly I don't use the WiFi capability on it, but that was my choice) must be a decade old now, the provider (BT) never upgrades it.. so I'm planning to walk away and get broadband from elsewhere.
