I agree with Michael. I have been a member for almost 2 years and I have made new friends, learned a lot about electronics and programming and had an opportunity to help other people interested in learning…

    G'Day,

I am going to play mall cop on your post and inquire about your reason for visiting. Can I assume from your message you are having a problem with a CNC build and are looking for some advice?

I am not a CNC person but I will venture to guess there are individuals on this site that will have CNC knowledge. The trick is to provide bait that will attract them.

I would encourage you to setup a discussion in the forum. Provide details regarding the issue.   It has been my experience someone will take an interest in your discussion and provide their insight. The crumbs you provide in clear details are the secret to an answer forthcoming.

Oh by the way, welcome to the site.

    Sean

I joined the Element14 community a while ago, but did not take the time at first to look around until this last month..... Now I can't believe what I was missing!  There is such a massive amount of really great information on here from the whole community!  The content also seems to be of a very high quality.

Absolutely love the way the whole site works - with the different areas, reward points for participation, Design Challenges, Road Tests etc.  In the past I have benefited a lot from what others have put out there on places like this, GitHub, forums etc but not really participated much myself.  This though has really given me some drive to participate and get involved - bring on 2019!

A little about myself - I am a systems engineer working in a factory in the South West of the UK.  My main focus is on Controls, Instrumentation and Automation.  I started off completing an Apprenticeship as an Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Technician and then worked up to my current job.

I have always had a passion for electronics and technology from when I was very young - If I could get my hands on my dads tools, I would love to take things apart and at first not be able to put them back together!

My first computer was an IBM XT that I bought from a school friends dad with my pocket money when I was 10. - that was back in 1994.  This gave me a great introduction to using the DOS prompt and BASIC programming.

I love playing around with and learning about electronics in my spare time - especially with the development boards and SBC such as the Raspberry Pi that are now available so cheaply!

I am really looking forward to learning lots from everyone on here, getting inspiration for new projects and contributing some of my own work.
