Hello Community!

Thank you again to everyone who participated by leaving comments over on our previous postWin a Raspberry Pi 4 in Celebration of Our 10th Birthday! And thank you for your patience as we worked on the many programs that have been ongoing, including the PiCasso Design Challenge, various Project14 competitions, as well as the absolutely massive Azure Sphere giveaway and competitions (that are still ongoing so make sure you secure your Azure Sphere Kit if you're able to!) It's been an absolutely wild year for us over in the Chicago and Leeds offices and expect more of that to continue so please look forward to more competitions, giveaways and what we hope will be more informative, engaging conversations for you all to participate in.

I finally received my new micro-HDMI cables, but I still don't get any sound.

This part was working well with the older RPis - has anyone else run into this issue?

ps, I've tried several things mentioned in the forums, including setting hdmi_drive=2 in config.txt, but while that did fix the sound, it also wrecked the display (off the top and right with black bars at left and bottom, and lots of glitching).

There's a very recent thread here on raspberrypi.org, with someone seeing the same kind of issues. I might try a fresh re-flash of the SD card to see it that works (and then upgrade).

Congratulations to the selected testers.

I'd be interested to know how the RPi4 performs when compared to the RPi3 and whether the 4 makes a reasonable basis for a PC (watching online streaming films, browsing the internet, opening LibreOffice) given the additional RAM. I've got a 3 that I use in such a way, but it is rather slow when compared to a 'mid spec' laptop.

A pleasant surprise, wasn't suppose to arrive until Monday!! Now waiting for the power adapter and hdmi cable. Can't wait to switch it on .

LOL yes. stop looking at these instructions. read the "real" instructions instead

#3 looks like - provide airflow for cooling so it doesn't overheat. the thing over it looks like it represents anything from papers to cases.

#5 I interpreted as "keep the chip side up", which I assume is both for cooling as well as for static protection

edit: I didn't see instructions in the enclosed papers, just warnings and regulations and such. So maybe #1 is just "read the fine print legal blahblahblah"

I found that my Pi isn't passing audio to the TV via the hdmi. I can get audio to work by changing config.txt, but then the resolution and display goes weird.
I kinda think it's due to the adapter.
So it looks like I'll be buying a new micro HDMI cable too

Always read the instructions (I guess I should do that first). I'm guessing that #3 is something like "do not restrict airflow, or the board will get hot". You are right, #5 is a little tough to understand, but it sort of looks like "It is OK to pull on the pins of the connector", which might be a violation of #4, which seems to be saying "do not touch the pins of the connector".

Thanks! I got the Pi 4 in the post today too, this is really awesome!! it will be very helpful for creating some projects.

The picture-instructions are interesting, hehe. I could be wrong, my interpretation of the first picture instruction is to instead read the written instructions! : )
#3 looks like some bag over the Pi? And #5 I couldn't understand : ( It is late on a Friday here! : )

I received the Raspberry Pi today , and will make my project using it , excited to use it and will post a blog of my project when I complete it.
