What will be the most important technology over the next 2 years?

There are lots of exciting things happening in technology today. Which one are you most excited about? We've gathered some of the topics engineers are talking about and listed them below.   • Embedded Technology

     

    Embedded tech is, and will remain the most important technology over the coming two years. It is the engineering behind all the important devices we use, including many of the things listed above. I am a huge fan of microcontrollers -- they are extremely powerful, very flexible, getting more and more efficient, and also getting smaller every year. Without the advances in embedded hardware and software, none of the other innovations in these areas would be possible.

     

    This is why becoming an 'embedded engineer' is so important these days. As both hardware and software grow closer and closer together, the average engineer needs to be able to address both aspects of a system at the same time. It's also perfect for me, as I love soldering and coding equally!

    Everything on the list is on the way... but in the short term I wager 3D printing will grow the most.

     

    There are just so many printers now... and so many on the way.
