How to program USB host shield?

With no more information than you have in the post it's difficult to give you an answer.  I'm assuming you want to end up sending data from a Windows or Linux PC to an Android device.  Since I don't know whether the Mega (is it a Mega, Mega 2560, or Mega ADK?) is just a data conduit or actually doing something I can't give you any help there.  I would tell you to check SainSmart's documentation and code examples on their website: SainSmart USB Host Android ADK Shield 2.0 For Arduino UNO MEGA R3 Mega2560 Duemilanove Nano Robot 3D Printing, Arduino, …

The documentation pack I downloaded had quite a bit of sample code (including USB), and a copy of the eBook "Beginning Android ADK with Arduino".  Their website also lists compatible Android devices; which seems to be somewhat limited to those most widely used.

Serial communication, as you're finding out, can be difficult.

I have an arduino mega 2560 board, i need send information from a windows pc to arduino mega 2560 by the programming port using serial communication, this part is solved, but when an specific kind of information is sent, this information must be sent to other device using the USB host shield and serial communication too.

I have downloaded this version as you have recommended me, I had the 2.0 version. But I can't install it, I put it in the user folder as the instructions said, but the program can't find the libraries.

Have you downloaded the Windows version of the "Android Development Kit"?  That may give you some help.

I know this is an old post, but looking for some assistance.

I have an Arduino Uno with an USB Host Shield connected.

Got as far as being able to read the USB Device descriptors etc with help from code and libraries on this site and Github.

My goal is to connect an inverter  with USB to the Host shield.

Inverter is pretty simple, I send a command to it in hex, and it replies with the data in the device.

How do I go about sending a string of data via USB on host shield, and listen to USB on Host shield.
