Hi everybody. Please forgive me if that question have been asked before (i didn't find anything on this forum though).
I am planning to use shift registers (74HC595) to drive solenoids and I am wondering what is the difference between daisychaining the 595s ans using SPI
At same time I am wondering what is the point of using SPI since on the schematics I saw over the internet requires to link the 595s chips via their Serial input pins (like when daisychaining).
Would it be possible to use each 595s as a Slave without linking them each other (probably not since they don't have a chip select pin).
