    Hi Saurabh,

For a 2 wheel robot, you only need a single axis accelerometer with a range of about 2 or 3 g.

You need to decide if you want to use analog output signals or serial communications with the accelerometer. Analog is simpler to program, but harder to achieve accuracy, however you can achieve balance with either.

Either way, you will need an accelerometer that has a bandwidth above 100 Hz - the output signal must be able to detect changes in acceleration faster than 100 times per second, and preferably significantly faster than this.

As you mentioned, there are many inexpensive devices with these specifications, just pick the cheapest one that is Arduino compatible with the suitable range and bandwidth..

    Hi Saurabh,

If you're open to using something that is not Arduino, but still very easy to use, maybe have a look at the Freescale FRDM-KL25z board. It is about $14 and includes an on board accelerometer, as well as extra LEDs, capacitive touch slider, more memory and higher speed compared to the Uno.

I have one here and found it very easy to work with, using mbed.org.

    Cheers,

    -Nico
