Handheld transmitter

I see many people build wireless reciver for electric skateboards and wanted to build one which could be controlled by a phone(android) and a handheld reciver. A few questions:

-How to make one like this(wireless)?

-Can I use a bluethoot module for the handheld reciver or will it intefere with the signals send to the phone(one will be on the skateboard)?

It's my diy project because I like skateboardsimage.

    Hi,

     

    I am not sure if I get the idea. But I think you could use bluetooth, so a module like RN42XV could be conected to the arduino in the skate. Then through an app in an Android phone you will be able to control the skate.

     

    Just as an example:

    You could adapt the receiver part for your skate instead for an RC car.

    And for the transmitter just an app in an Android phone.

     

    Does it fit the idea?

     

    In fact, in this case, there is no receiver neither transmitter, both sides are transceiver, so you can get parameters, as for example, speed, battery status... from the skate to the app.

     

    One big inconvenience, do not fall down and hurt your mobile... image

    My kids break enough phones without being on a skate  board while trying to use it, I would definelty recommend a way cheaper controller ... I mean, think about it

    I am more concerened about the handheld transmitter than the bluethoot stuff.

    Thanks for the reply, exactly what I was looking fo but in a different menner. The one youposted was wide. I wanted something thin. For exampe, take your walkman/walking stick and hold it. That's how less thick it should be.

    for a prototype what I proposed will work

     

    If it pans out then simply get a board made to the dimensions you need, with everything on the single board.

    Since power conumption is 5Vs and the battery should have a charging circuit.

    3v3 so a lithium ION battery of 4.2V max (3.7 nominal) therefore any usb charger as a source and a very inexpensive single cell LION charger chip / board

    Funnily enough the Wireless Nintendo Wii Nunchuck, uses an internal Lipo battery and is 3v3 electronics.

    step up regulators are inefficient!

    And you base this how ??

    What does it matter, you're going to need to charge the skateboard, so the transmitter is another part of it.

     

    I suggest maybe YOU do the design and then ask for comments ...so far it seems everyone else is doing the design for you.

    This is a actual life skateboard, not a toy. The thing is that I only need help with the battery for tansmitter. I've chosen the transmitter. If you want to say step up regulators are efficient than give one which is effecient. Every Volt/Amp is needed.

    Ihave the design ready. A transmitter, atmega chip all that is remaining is battery and the smaller the better.
