Reverse Footprint for Arduino Mega

How do you mount a Mega on a PCB?

I'm using a Arduino Mega for a project and wanted to use Fritzing to create a PCB layout. The footprint for the Mega reflects the pinout of the motherboard. If I create a pin pattern on the board to mount the Mega directly to the board, then the pins need to be reversed. The Mega is flipped over and mounted face down on the PCB reversing the pinout.

I cannot find a pinout that reflects the Mega face down on a PCB. I would assume that is the way to install the board and not have a collection of jumpers running from the Mega board back to the PCB. If anyone has an insight I would welcome the input?

I assume the PCB is plated through-hole? Put the footprint on the reverse of the PCB but actually solder the MEGA (or headers) onto the front of the board. That would work wouldn’t it?

I would change the background colour so that you can see the white font. I did a quick test to prove and it is quite straightforward. If this is what you need, then I can place the modified fritzing…

In PCB mode, click on the footprint and then change "pcb layer" to bottom.

Thanks for the response. Your suggestion was my original thought. The Mega mounts on the backside of the PCB. Not a solution I have used before therefore it seemed strange. First time using a Mega in a project also.

Yes, that would work too!  Which side to solder the Mega too might get dictated by any encasement?  Specifically, how thick the case would be and access to the USB and Power ports once soldered; I was assuming you wanted to keep all parts on one side.
