X-BEE module

Hello,

I want to use the x-bee for wireless serial comm. between two arduinos. How do i configure the X-bee modules.

Also, what are the possible uses of the X-bee. I am a beginner and do not have enough experience with wireless comm. How does the X-Bee work??

if i configure the X bee modules for just wireless serial comm, will i be able to send data wirelessly to the other device. will it work just like it would have worked, if the system was wired?.

We had this question about a week ago.
The answer is no, they won't work the same. You need to check the datasheets for the various xbee models,
they are all different.
But, in general, if there is no packet verification and retransmission then you need to write code to do that.
And the chances are you need to send data in certain packet sizes unless you've got yourself into a UART type
mode - and even then you might need to verify bytes yourself and retransmit if needed.

I do not know if it will be of help but Jeremy Blum in his great book "Exploring Arduino" ISBN: 978-1-118-54936-0 devotes the entire chapter 11 to Wireless Communication with X-Bee Radios. You can google the book and check out the sub-listings in chapter 11 to see if any of the topics would answer your needs.

Get this 2.5GHz wireless transceiver called nrf24l01, it's inexpensive, easy to use to start with wireless communication, loads of tutorials on web, you can connect 2 microcontrollers wirelessly which is in your case 2 Arduino...and buy 2 of them
