bitstream

Hi, I have a problem in sending the bitstream to the ZedBoard

I'm using windows Vista 32 bit
I started with SW 14.1 and now Iu2019m in 14.2

1) I connected Teraterm through usb port J14, I booted from SD then I grounded JP9 and JP10, and I got the message:
Program FPGA failed
Reason:
FPGA configuration encountered errors.
2) I connected to J14, booted from SD, grounded JP9-JP10, then connected to J17 (USB-JTAG): got the FPGA error as above
3) I connected to J17, booted from SD, grounded JP9-JP10: got the FPGA error as above

Is there something else that I have to do?

If go to iMPACT and click on u201Cboundary scanu201D receive: u201Cright click to add device or initialize JTAG chainu201D
If I right click and then u201Cinitialize chainu201D I get the error message: u201CWARNING:iMPACT:923 u2013 Can no find cable, check cable setup!

If I right click and then u201Ccable setupu201D I get the error message: u201CERROR:iMPACT u2013 This function requires that a target is opened first.u201D

I wonder:
- is there any jumper configuration that I miss?
- And then what usb port do I have to use to send the bitstream, the J14 (USB-UART) or the J17 (USB-JTAG)?

Do I have a not working ZedBoard?

For JTAG, use J17 after placing all MIO[2:6] jumpers on the GND side. Unfortunately, you may be experiencing an issue in the tools due to a non-supported O/S.

The problem is with the libCseDigilent.dll which is missing in my system

Even though in the Digilent site is written that this .dll is for ISE 13.x, and Iu2019m using ISE 14.2, I download the driver from:
http://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Detail.cfm?Prod=DIGILENT-PLUGIN

and exploding the zip file, from the folder:
u2026Digilent DriverlibCseDigilent_2.1.7-x86-x64-WindowsISE13xplugin
tpluginsDigilentlibCseDigilent

I put the two files: libCseDigilent.dll libCseDigilent.xml
and into: C:Xilinx14.2ISE_DSISElib
tpluginsDigilentlibCseDigilent

now I'm able to use iMPACT

That's strange, as the Digilent drivers are supposed to get installed with the ISE 14.2, unless you uncheck the Cable Drivers option during your install. In any case, I'm glad that you got this working.

In the future, if you have problems with your Digilent JTAG, you can reinstall the Digilent JTAG directly from your Xilinx installation. For example, on my Win7 64-bit machine, I can go to C:\Xilinx\14.2\ISE_DS\common\bin\nt64\digilent and find install_digilent.exe, which allows me to reinstall the Digilent JTAG without downloading from the Digilent site or reinstalling from the ISE installer.

hi Brian,

well, I had problem with 14.1 and then I upgraded to 14.2, still with that same problem

I don't remeber that I unchecked the Cable Drivers, but I cannot vow...

maybe windows vista 32 bit is not supported, but importing drivers as described above it works, and this is good

if this could help, I'll report the next upgrade to 14.3, when available

Windows Vista is not officially supported. That is likely the problem. I'm glad you found a successful work-around.

I generated the system.bit unfortunately when I want export hardware for sdk I can't chekck the box include bitstream I don't understand. I use the ise 14.4. Do you have ideas of the problem ?

Hi tibacou,

I just did this today on my V14.4 design. One of the features of this version of tools is that the implemented design must be opened in PlanAhead first before the check box to include the bitstream is enabled.

Try opening the implemented design in your PlanAhead project, then try again to export to SDK.
