Microzed power via barrel jack

Hello,

The hardware user guide for MicroZed mentions that the board can be powered using a 5V barrel jack connector while using as a stand-alone board (section 2.10.1). But I do not see how that is possible with the board at hand. Is there an additional/special port and connection cable that I need for this or does the 5V barrel jack input work only using a carrier card?

    As discussed in section 2.10.1 of the Hardware Users Guide you would need to populate the Barrel Jack and associated capacitors in order to power the MicroZed in this manner:

     

    • Populate J4 barrel jack and use a 5V AC/DC supply rated for the projected current demand AND install the capacitors C212, C217, and C218.

    Thanks Gary,

    I wasn't sure what 'populate' meant until you highlighted it and so I confused that line as being related to J5 expansion header.

    Is there any place I can get additional info about what specific components I should populate those connections with? I do see I need a 4 pinned barrel jack connector there but I can't find one? Also where can I find the capacitors I need (what F etc).

    The MicroZed Bill of Materials (BOM) is available for download at this link: http://zedboard.org/support/documentation/1519

     

    Select the board version you have and look for J4 and C212, C217 and C218. They will be listed as DNP (Do Not Populate) on the BOM but the  values and part numbers will be specified.
