Position Microheaders Microzed

Hi,

 

I'm trying to design a custom footprint for a custom Microzed carrier card in KICAD.

I would like some help on the finding the actual position/spacing of the microheaders JX1 and JX2 on the Microzed.

 

I find 3 numbers in the Microzed documentation for this, and they all contradict:

- A spacing in the Microzed Hardware user guide is given of 1.75 inch

- A spacing in the Microzed carrier design guide (figure of I/O carrier card) is given of 1.7505 inch

- A spacing in the Microzed Hardware user guide of 0.2505 is given between the microheader and the edge of the Microzed. After some calculations, this results in a spacing between the two microheaders of 1.749 inch.

 

Can someone clear this out for me? Have I missed something?

    Hi Robbie,

     

    We offer the source files for all of our MicroZed Carrier Cards. Typically we have customers request these source files from their local Avnet FAE and use them to verify their MicroZed mating connector placement on their custom carrier boards. Are you able to do this?

    Hi Robbie,

     

    I feel the top and bottom gerber layers should be published for all of the zedboards, so users can get precise measurements. Anyway, I think the difference is so slight, it is rounding error level (it is just a few hundredths of a millimeter) between 1.749 and 1,7505 inches, so may make no difference at all (the screw-holes and board edges will have greater tolerance than this).

    Hmm, yes I guess you are right. Maybe I'll leave it at 1.75, as the tolerances of the connector dimensions seem to be around +-0.1mm. I just got frustrated at the contradictions inside the Microzed documentation.
