cannot use Tera Term to talk to miniZed

Hi All,

Just got brandnew miniZed several weeks ago, and started playing with it. I followed getting started guide but came across problems now.

1, There was a driver installation error when connecting minized to my labtop. So I follow step 4 "In the rare circumstance that the drivers are not auto-installed, then you must manually install the driver for the FTDI FT2232H device. Visit the FTDI website and download the appropriate driver for your operating system. http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm".

After doing that, I reconnect miniZed to labtop and saw this

image

So only one USB serial converter A is installed, while converter B still does not show up. This is suspicious

2, So I go ahead moving to step 7 of the guide, "Set the MiniZed boot mode switch SW1 to QSPI mode (‘F’ for Flash) as shown below"

Still very confusing statement. What in the world the SW should be flipped to? Two pictures they provide are essentially contradictory to each other.

Anyway here is my current setting

3, Trea term also does not show what I want

No port # shows up. If I click OK, then pop up a window which says

image

Hope someone can help with such basic questions. Thanks for your time and attention

    Hi Huiliang,

The images in your discussion post are not visible, although they may be visible on your browser. This is due to a bug when the discussion post is first created, the solution is to edit your discussion.

Please could you edit it (just add a character to the end of it, like a '.'), that will make the images appear so we can see them.

    See here for details:

Regarding your actual issue, the boot switches should be set as shown here:

    This is described here:

    Hi Huiliang,

Make sure your installed proper FTDI  driver in your PC. Or install the driver using the device manager. Go to the  Ports(COM & LPT)  and click USB Serial Port (COM20) click on the Update Driver option, and select the update driver manually, browse the downloaded driver path  of FTDI and install drivers. After that restart your PC.  Kit Boot details is mentioned in the below link. and you can also see F <BOOT> J option

in the kit. switch the Toggle switch to F side to boot from the Flash.

Read the MiniZed-HW-UG-v1-0-V1_0 manual for reference.

Find the document in the below http://zedboard.org/sites/default/files/documentations/MiniZed-HW-UG-v1-0-V1_0.pdf

Now I am facing another problem when setting up wifi. See picture below

    image

Why cannot open RFKILL control device? Why no SIOCGIFFLAGS: no such device? I have made sure of modification of wpa_supplicant.conf to have the right network name and password. Anything else should I pay attention?

    Hi Huiliang,

Command: rfkill is used for either enable or disable the radio devices (wifi, bluetooth, etc).

use command: rfkill list for get the available devices.
