Picozed download to Flash issue

jfioriglio
jfioriglio over 3 years ago

We have been successful downloading FLASH with Vitis 2020.1.  During a download session, the user cancelled the download in midstream and the board became a brick.

We tried to re-download the Flash and we get  message: uboot error and Flash programming initialization has failed.

Does any one know how we fix this issue so we can download again?

Also we cannot read from Flash thru the JTAG debugger.

You should be able to rescue the board by using JTAG and TFTP to boot a known-good Linux OS image and then use the Linux flash utilities to erase and reprogram the QSPI.  Don't forget to reset the boot mode switches to JTAG before attempting this.  You can download a known-good PetaLinux BSP for the PicoZed here:

    http://avnet.me/zedsupport

Instructions for booting via JTAG can be found here:
    https://github.com/Avnet/petalinux/blob/2020.1/documentation/pz/how_to_boot.txt

    I hope this helps.

Is there a way to do this without an ethernet connection?  Can we do it over JTAG only?  It is our only interface to PICOZED Card.

You should be able to do this over JTAG only if you have an MCS file. If you have access to the PicoZed FMC V2 Carrier, then you could follow these Restore instructions to overwrite QSPI and eMMC back to their factory state.
