Ok guys further investigation reveals that the SOM requires power enable signal (apparently active high as per SOM doc) to turn on but my carrier board pulls it down as soon as i turn on the power and it remains like that afterwards. why is it like this plz help guys

My freshly on-boxed Picozed SD SOM Development Kit exhibits the identical DS8 led lit condition.

    Gentlemen,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.  We're working on understanding this issue today.

DS8 on the PZSDRCC-FMC board indicates that it is successfully generates 5.0V, which is used to power the SOM (VIN).

Each PZSDRCC-FMC board is tested at the manufacturer, so I don't suspect you have bad carrier cards.

Our theory is that the firmware in the ADM1166 located on the AES-7ZPZ-SDR2-G SOM is programmed with a threshold for the VIN voltage that is too tight.  If the ADM1166 doesn't see a valid VIN voltage, the SOM will not power up.  We suspect this is what you are experiencing.

We'll continue working on it and I will provide an update first thing in the morning.

    Thanks,

    /Matt

i also have the same theory because TP2 on the SOM is reading 4.96V but power good led DS3 on SOM is not lighting up indicating that power supervisory IC is not completing its sequence. plz help me with this issue i am looking for a solution urgently. do i have to RMA the board ?

We found the root cause.  It is *not* faulty hardware.

As we suspected, the threshold check of the voltage "VH" programmed into the ADM1166 (power sequencer) on the SOM was too tight.  VH is the first check performed by the ADM1166.  Therefore on some hardware combinations the SOM doesn't power up because the VIN voltage falls below the threshold (only by 10mV or so).

The ADM1166 I2C lines connect directly to the Zynq device and therefore can be reprogrammed from software.  We are working on that software now and will publish it ASAP (target =Monday 2/29 ).

Thank you for your patience and sorry for the inconvenience.

Farhan -- I will contact you via private message to see if you need an interim fix today.

    Thanks,

    Matt

We have the software update for the ADM1166 ready.  It will be included in our next production build of SOMs.

For those experiencing this issue now, I will private message each of you with instructions to update your SOM or return it for a replacement.

    Thanks again for your patience!

    /Matt
