I think there is no problem. And in fact https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/using-3d-printer-raspberry-pi/ describes software and setup. They include magpi.cc/2vBupZw for software image (Pi 3 not Pi 4). I am guessing Pi 4 should work as well using Buster. Give it a try!

Or if you wanted to control your 3D printer with RPi then go with clem57's suggestion. You can also check Octoprint which is also good, however, RPi 4 support is not out yet (https://community.octoprint.org/t/raspberry-pi-4-is-out/10332 )
