The Ultra96 boards are part of the Linaro 96Boards consortium. Ultra96 follows the 96Boards Consumer Edition Specification. As stated on the 96Boards About page, "96Boards is a range of hardware specifications created by Linaro to make the latest ARM-based processors available to developers at a reasonable cost."
The Ultra96 has the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC device with a quad-core Arm A53, which is how Ultra96 fits into Linaro 96Boards. Ultra96 is unique in the 96Boards space as one of very few boards that have Programmable Logic. If you would like to learn more about 96Boards, please visit
Prior to the pandemic, Linaro hosted Linaro Connect twice per year. This was an excellent educational event to learn many things relative to Arm processing. Avnet and Xilinx have actively participated in these events in the past. The lectures from these past events are all free to view publicly now, so if you're sitting around bored during the holidays, check some of these out!

With the pandemic ongoing, Linaro has suspended their in-person events. Instead, Linaro is hosting online Tech Events. The next one starts February 8th, so put this on your calendar.

Linaro will continue doing these online events through at least the first half of 2022. I believe there is still a chance that an in-person Linaro Connect in Fall 2022 is possible, but we'll have to wait and see how the global travel situation plays out in the coming 6 months.
Happy 2022 to everyone, and wishing you all good health and success!
