I happened to have Xplained Evaluation Kit for ATxmega128A1 board that was previously preprogrammed with some sort of SW which caused to not being recognized with USB port. May be boot-loader was wiped , not sure though. Is there way to reset board to initial condition ?
According to the documentation...
The boot loader on the ATxmega128A1 is evoked by pushing the mechanical switch (SW0) during reset. Programming can be performed by using the BatchISP command line tool from the FLIP installation.
If that does not work then there's a remote possibility that it might not be the board bootloader (assuming it was not overwritten) that is causing the problem. Did you change computer, change the computer OS perhaps. It may be that your computer simply does not recognise the USB driver... but then again that's only likely if using an old Window's OS. With Linux there's no problem... according to documentation:
When connecting the XMEGA-A1 Xplained to a PC, the operating system will request a driver file for installing the serial communication driver. This driver file is available in the zip file associated with this document. The driver file supports both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows
XP and Windows7. Driver installs are not necessary on Linuxoperating systems.
If that does not help then what IDE are you using? And if using the prescribed IDE and still nothing then try using an AVR programmer.
