DC motor controller needed for dental chair

Latch
Latch over 13 years ago

I have a dental chair with a broken DC motor controller board. There are no identifying marks on the motor or the main controller board unfortunately.

The motor is connected to a large capacitor.

I want to make a circuit that will make the motor spin in both directions with a toggle switch.

Any direction you can give is appreciated.

if you don`t need things like speed control, then you could just use the DPDT toggle switch on its own.

    YT,

Using a switch is ultimately what I will use for a toggle, but I need to wire up the motor for both directions.

This is where I need help. I need help with some sort of control circuit.

if you get a DPDT switch (On-Off-On) and wire the 2 motor power wires to the middle pins of the switch, and then wire up + - to the top 2 pins, and then - + to the bottom 2 pins, you`ll have exactly what you need image

in the the Middle position the motor is Off.

in the Top position the motor gets + and - (forwards direction).

in the Bottom position it gets wired - and + (reverse direction).

hope that`s a little clearer, All the best and Happy New Year!

    That does sound easy.

Know how to wire the capacitor with the motor?
