attiny84 library for arduino

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

Hello,

I want to program Attiny84 using Arduino Uno as ISP, but can not find proper library. I used to program Attiny85 using attiny45_85.zip This library does contain also Attiny84, however not to be programmed with Arduino as ISP. I found other libraries, like arduino-tiny-0100-0016.zip, but they too do not provide choice of Attiny84 to be programmed with Arduino as ISP. Can anyone help?

    Hi,

    you can find more recent versions of ATtiny cores on https://code.google.com/p/arduino-tiny/downloads/list

    I don't have any ATtiny84 to try it out, but the combination of ATtiny84 with Arduino as ISP is possible.

    Hope this helps,

    Frederick

    Downloaded the newest file from the link provided (arduino-tiny-0150-0020.zip), but it still does not contain a choice on Arduino IDE at Tools-Board for Attiny84 w/Arduino as ISP. It contains only Attiny84 (internal oscilator; BOD disabled) with different MHz options. image  You don't actually have to have a chip to test that.

    In Tools > Programmer, you should be able to select "Arduino as ISP" with Tools > Board > "ATtiny84 ..." selected.

    I am using Arduino 0022. It does not have Programmer option on Tools menu. Will try ver. 1.0.5.

    Tried ver 1.0.5. Looks like it's gonna work. But I get "Problem uploading ...". Could that be because I connect all the programming wires to the six separate ICSP pins on Uno ?

    On the ATtiny cores download page, there are 2 versions: one for Arduino 1.0 and one for 1.5.

    From your comments, it seems you are using the cores for Arduino 1.5 with Arduino 1.0(.5)

    * arduino-tiny-0150-0020.zip is for Arduino 1.5
    * arduino-tiny-0100-0018.zip is for Arduino 1.0

    Tried as you all advised. It seems that you can not use ICSP pins for connecting Arduino as a programmer. Connected to regular MISO, MOSI, SCK, etc pins and programming worked just fine. Thanks for your advise!
