Part Number:TWR-MPC8309

The TWR-MPC8309 is a development board for the MPC8309 PowerQUICC® Industrial Development MPU. Using the Tower System with MQX support allows a smooth migration path from NXP MCUs to this 835DMIPS Power Architecture® processor featuring an industrial protocol off-load engine which can remove the need for an external protocol FPGA/ASIC.The TWR-MPC8309 operates as a standalone debug tool and can also be combined and used as part of the modular Tower System development platform.

The MPC8309 PowerQUICC II Pro is a member of the MPC830x family of cost-effective network communication processors that meet the requirements of multi-protocol control applications. It provides better CPU performance, additional functionality and faster interfaces than current PowerQUICC II processors while addressing important time to market, price, power consumption and board real estate requirements.

The versatile MPC8309 processor delivers up to 835 DMIPS of processing power at less than 1.6W and features 233 MHz QUICC Engine technology for protocol offloading.NXP’s QUICC Engine technology can support a wide range of Ethernet and fieldbus-based industrial networking protocols, virtually eliminating the need for an expensive FPGA/ASIC, thereby reducing design complexity and system bill of material (BOM) cost while leaving the CPU available for application processing.

Key Applications:

  • Connectivity: PROFIBUS, IEEE® 1588
  • Industrial : Programmable Logic Control (PLC), Process Control, Temperature Control, Input-Output Control (I/O Control), Fieldbus-to-Ethernet Gateway, Single Board Computer
