PSoC 4 Pioneer Kit Community Project#02 - CapSense Slider

On the 2nd day of our 100 Projects in 100 Days community effort, I am posting one of the PSoC 4 Pioneer Kit's bundled example projects.

 

This is a very simple yet effective CapSenseRegistered demo that implements a 5-segment slider, like the one available on the Pioneer kit.

Moving your finger across the capacative touch slider on the board, you will observe the multicolor LEDs gradually changing color from red to green. These LEDs are driven by the PWM Component.

Hardware Connections (all internal to the board, no external connections required):

  • 5-segment Slider - P1[1] - P1[5]
  • Green LED - P0[2]
  • Red LED - P1[6]

 

Software Setup:

  • See steps #1 - #6 from the main post here
  • Main.C - This example project implement simple firmware in the project's main.c as shown below (already completed in the example project). The code implmented scans the CapSense slider, then updates the PWM's PulseWidth with the slider value.

  • I'm having issues running this when I create my own project. I downloaded the posted project and replicated it (to the best of my ability with the version change). The project compiles, but it's not running properly, the slider doesn't appear to be working. When I try to step through the program during debug everything appears to be working fine except when I get to while(CapSense_IsBusy());. The program appears to step into there and never emerge.

     

    Any help would be great, I'd really like to understand this system, chip, and IDE.

    the original attached project has a .xml file that is loaded into the CapSense Component for all of the tuning settings based on the hardware on the kit. Ensure you grab that configuration .xml file from the original project and have your CapSense Component set to use it.

    Any idea where that .xml file is located? I looked through the project directory and only found one, PSoCCreatorExportIDE.xml, and it doesn't appear to be tied to the CapSense.

    William, I re-attached the CapSense configuration xml to the main post (you'll have to extract the .xml from the .zip)

     

    Btw, I just downloaded this project again, opened it in Creator, updated all Components to the latest version (Creator prompts you to do so), and then simply re-built and programmed the project on the kit - CapSense seems to work all fine.

    Just double-check you've done all these steps correctly.
