Access my BeagleBone Black anywhere?

Question

I have a BBB, a battery pack, and a Ethernet connection to a router. I need to access the BBB via my VNC client, but cant seem to do that unless I have it plugged (via USB) into my laptop.

Is there a way for me to just turn the battery pack on, plug it into the router, and then have access to it anywhere?

Hi Martin when you installed vnc server you opened two more ports (5800 and 5900) on your BBB, but in my opinion this does not expose your BBB to a greater risk Cheers Ambrogio

You will need to setup a VNC server on your BBB.

opkg update

opkg install x11vnc

and then run the server once done so

x11vnc -bg -o %HOME/.x11vnc.log.%VNCDISPLAY -auth /var/run/gdm/auth-for-gdm*/database -display :0 -forever

Then open up the VNC Client on your device and connect to your External IP address. If required forward the port number on your router.
