Here is short presentation of initial test of DLP LightCrafter 2000 EVM connected to BeagleBone Black Wireless board. I would like to use this board to create portable theater projector for watching movies e.g. from Youtube or Netflix.

    I have tried that but the issue is that beagle bone's graphics/ video rendering capability is darn poor. Anything beyond 600 px will ruin your experience. Regards, GS Gill

    BBBW it is not ideal device to video playback because CPU does not have integrated video decoder e.g. for H264 codec. To improve little playback you could do following steps: - update Device Tree Blob…

    Hi,

    Are you sure that your power source have required parameters 5V and min. 3A. When you connect only EVM2000 to power source, do you see the default splash screen ?
    When you using it with host processor are you sure that I2C connection is proper ?

    Hi

    Thank you for this great demonstration

    I've connected to BB with the EVM 2000 according to the setup and powered on.

    For some reason the green light of the EVM starts for a couple of seconds and turns off.

    No image is projected.

    I've tried seperate power sources with no success.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    BBBW it is not ideal device to video playback because CPU does not have integrated video decoder e.g. for H264 codec. To improve little playback you could do following steps:
    - update Device Tree Blob because in last BBB works only with 800 MHz clock:
    $ wget 'https://github.com/RobertCNelson/dtb-rebuilder/archive/4.9-ti.zip '
    $ unzip 4.9-ti.zip
    $./dtc-overlay.sh
    $ make
    $ cp src/arm/*.dtb /boot/dtbs/linux-kernel/
    $ reboot
    After reboot BBB should work with 1 GHz clock.
    - convert movie to MPEG4 with ffmpeg e.g.
    $ ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -vcodec mpeg4 -vf scale=640:-1 out.mp4

    After that mplayer should be able to play movie without any issues. In this case CPU usage is around 70/80 %.
