Another board - BeagleV-Ahead

Fred27
Fred27 over 2 years ago

Hot on the heel of the BeaglePlay, it seems there's another new BeagleBoard offering - the BeagleV-Ahead.

https://forum.beagleboard.org/t/beaglev-ahead-new-risc-v-computer-from-beagleboard-org-is-broadly-available-now-around-150/35317

Personally, I feel that whilst it's great that they're producing new boards, it would be even better if the existing ones were "finished" (i.e. documentation and example code) before things move on to the latest shiny thing.

Hi Fred, I've converted this to a forum thread from blog post as it looked more like a thread. I also started a similar one here : Welcome to the BeagleV Ahead! The RISC based single board computer.…

I'm keeping an eye out. I regularly check to see if the BeaglePlay documentation has been updated yet. I was doing so when I spotted this. If you need one reviewed then I'd be happy to oblige. I will…

    Business as usual.

The link to the processor on the product home page goes to a taobao error page. They aren't even trying.

On the document page, they talk about TI AM6254 instead of the RISK-V

I just tried to fix it, but it's in GitLab, so you'd have to create a branch and submit a merge request, even for small changes, which means it's not going to get done much, I gave up. I'm surprised the documentation isn't a wiki.

Also, I'm still waiting on BeagleConnect Freedom documentation. I don't even think a lot of documentation is needed, just enough for the community to run with things. But with absolutely no information, I'm stuck. Everywhere I looked it was "to do". Hope it's better with the Beagle-V, but I still want to use the BCF as mentioned too..

Maybe it's worth reaching out to them directly on discord?

    Hi Christopher,

Thanks for that. I had left them a couple of messages on the BeagleBoard forum, but neither message resulted in anything much. Discord is a great idea. I'll reach out tonight.

Someone kindly offered to update the AM6254 error that you mentioned Jan Cumps  since I raised that while I was on Discord too.

(I raised some BeagleConnect Freedom questions on Discord, no feedback yet although admittedly it's just been a day).
