Kit Overview

The DEMO9S08QG8DEMO9S08QG8 is a demonstration board for the MC9S08QG8MC9S08QG8 microcontroller. Development of application code is quick and easy with the  integrated USB-to-BDM interface, CodeWarriorTM Development Studio, and software examples. A 32-pin connector allows connecting the DEMO9S08QG8 board to an expanded evaluation environment.

The S08QG Family of microcontrollers provide a wide variety of serial interfaces and peripherals, normally found in higher-end devices, all in a small package. Featuring low-power S08 8-bit architecture, S08QG devices are a perfect fit for battery-powered devices.

The operating modes of the MC9S08QG8/4 are described below. Entry into each mode, exit from each mode, and functionality while in each mode are described.

  • Active background mode for code development
  • Wait mode:
    • CPU halts operation to conserve power
    • System clocks running
    • Full voltage regulation is maintained
  • Stop modes: CPU and bus clocks stopped
    • Stop1: Full powerdown of internal circuits for maximum power savings
    • Stop2: Partial powerdown of internal circuits; RAM contents retained
    • Stop3: All internal circuits powered for fast recovery; RAM and register contents are retained

Key Applications:

  • Consumer - Small Appliances, Toys
  • Medical/Health Care - Vital Signs Monitors
  • Networking - Wireless Communications
