Oval via or solder pad

Is it possible to create a oval via or solder pad.

I have to create a part that has a oval mounting tab that must be soldered.

    Hi Harry,

     

    Anything is possible in EAGLE, it's just that sometimes they can't be

    done easily or cleanly.

     

    One option, within the library editor is to approximate the oval shape

    using the elongated pad option when you lay down pads in your package.

    If this solution is acceptable go with it, it's the simplest solution.

     

    Another option would be to use an appropriately sized circular via, and

    then using commands such as circle, wire, and polygon fill around the

    via to make the overall shape oval. This method will yield exactly the

    shape you want, however will probably generate some DRC errors (

    Obviously you can overlook them, but DRC errors seem to nag some users.)
