Update Library does NOT update schematic or board

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

Update Library (specific) or Update All Libraries does not update

schematic or board with library changes.

The only work-around is to open the schematic and "pretend" to add the

revised component, acknowledge the "updated" messages, and then escape

(cancel) the addition.

This is unacceptable behavior.

Eagle should check for updated devices/packages whenever a board is

loaded and prompt for update or not.  And, Update Library should WORK!!!

After editing did you: use *, enter (command line)?  Editing takes the lbr

out of use (grey dot), so an update seems not to work.

I will have to check, but why would editing the library mark it not for

use?  Why would you want to edit a library and then not use it?

    Seems silly.

We have most all of our devices in one library, so that they are easier

to find and control, so we edit it a lot, and want the changes updated

    in the schematics and boards.

Any suggestions to make the updates easier and prevent the library from

    being marked not for use?
