Searching for a package in the libraries

I am really new to eagle, like 2 days or so, but I am looking for a better

way to find the package i need from the libraries, so that i can coppy it

and make a new part. I have made one so far but it is a pain to search for

the right  package. I know i could just make my own but i dont trust my self

to the the measurements right, mabe after i print off this board.

 

Right now i am looking for the (SMD-220, TO-263) package for a diode but

there dose not seem to be one in the doide.lbr. i have also searched a few

other places and have not come up with anything.

    Yeah i ordered the parts off digikey and they all had datasheets. Most of

    them are soic-8 packages so it wont be too hard to make them all up. im just

    going to worry about microcontroller and all surface mout resistors,

    capacitors, and my big though-hole inductor that i got for free.

     

    Also some of the wires on this board are going to have up to 6 amps on them,

    i read some place that i should make the wires a bit larger. I dont know the

    excact size i should use. Its only up to 20 volts peak so nothing crazy.

     

    I found a hot air gun on my campus that i can use, also they have an oven

    for that but ill read more about working with surface mount parts when i got

    the board orderd.

    Also before you make a board check to see if you can buy the part and then

    the data sheet to see if the lib is correct for your type of board and how

    you are going to place the parts.

    It is best to copy parts to your lib and in the process verify it with a

    data sheet. But some of the smaller parts (8 pins or less) it is quicker

    to just make the part from the data sheet.

    To exactly place pads and lines use the numeric input method.
