Weird offsets of origins in a gerber file.

dukepro

Good afternoon,

My goal is to export all the part origins on an SMT board to ease the

programming of our pick-and-place machine.  Since the P&P machine

accepts gerber imports, I added a section to the CAM processor that

included only the bOrigins layer.

When viewing the origins file overlaid with the bottom copper (using

gerbv), all the origins seem to be offset to the left and below the

actual origin on the board layout screen.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this offset exists?

Thanks,

    - Chuck

The CAM processor uses the option "pos. Coords." by default. This means

that the whole layout will be moved near the x and y axis in the positive

coordinates area. So you will get an offset compared to the coordinates

shown in the EAGLE Layout Editor. We want to avoid negative values in the

Gerber data. This would be an absolute show stopper.

If you switch off "pos. Coords." in the CAM Processor there won't be an

    offset.

By the way: Did you try our mountsmd.ulp?
