Copying symbols

Dear Eagle user group

I tried to find some information on this but couldn't, so please excuse me

if this has been answered before.

I'd like to copy / paste a symbol (under a new name) in my own 'special

devices' library in order to modify it. However, I can't find any way of

making such a copy - is this possible?

Thanks!

Richard

There may be an easy way, but I only know of a convoluted way.  Make a

brand new library (Temp.lbr, for example).  Drag a device containing

the symbol you want to the new library.  Edit the new library and

rename the Device and the Symbol.  Delete all the packages from that

device.  Now you have a Device that has a Symbol and no packages.  Now

edit your Special Devices library and drag the (renamed) device to

your library.  Once you get it there, delete the device.  Now you have

a renamed Symbol, ready for you to modify it.  It was important that

you renamed the device too so that it would not over-write the device

with the same name in your good library.  Now you can delete Temp.lbr.
