Recommended Practice for handling drill data?

jameslittlefield
jameslittlefield over 16 years ago

Using Eagle 5.2.0 Professional and recently managed to create a

situation where the symbols shown in the drill layer were inconsistent

with the same symbols shown in the drill legend.   After experimenting a

bit with Options->Set->Drill->Set and then editing the drill order

manually,  I was eventually able to get things back in sync.

It does appear however that the drill table extracted from a board does

not (always) list the drills in the same order as for drillegend.ulp,

drill-legend.ulp, and drillcfg.ulp.    Is there a recommended sequence

of steps for getting consistent results among all these ulps?

Thanks

Jim

There is an ulp "drillegend" by A. Zaffran/C. Bohrer from 30.07.08

(download -> ulp) which works automatically & places a drill-table on layer

    144. No need to to run the set drill command.  Works fine with V4.x & V5.x

I understand/use this ulp.   The issue is that the actual drill symbols

in layer 144 don't always map correctly.    As noted in my original post

(and Bob Johnson's follow up) it appears that the ulp does not assign

symbols and drill sizes in the same order as Options->drills->set-Drills

so you can wind up w/ inconsistent data.

    bump

As noted, working on dozens of different boards with different drill sets,

the script-generated table does not always match the symbols; because the

options-drill-set command does not properly extract drill diameters in

    increasing order.

Is there ANY way to allow a .ULP to modify the options-set-drill table?

    thanks,

    ..dane
