Programmatically Rename Nets

Hi,

 

I'm trying to write a ULP that renames nets programmatically.  I've

tried using the NAME command, e.g.

 

NAME N$8 XD4

 

But this gives me an unknown part error.  If I type in NAME and then

click the wire that corresponds to that net, it allows me to rename it.

  Is there some way that I can rename a net by its name?

    I guess you need to enter coordinates for one of the wire ends like this:

    name "newname" (x y);

     

    But beware of these issues:

     

    Issue 1)

    If you do this on schematic and have a split net, you will get a requester

    up asking if you want to do two or three of the following options:

    -This segment

    -Every segment on this sheet

    -All segments on all sheets

    You are not allowed to choose default action in scripts (Ive posted that

    request on eagle.suggest.eng a few times)

     

    Issue 2)

    If you do this on board, you also need to do polygons, and you will get

    similar requests.
