creating "holes" in polygons?

I have a polygon on a layer for a ground net. I'd like to create a

"hole" in this polygon so there is no ground fill under part of a

particular component.

I know about rank and isolate, but I'm not able to achieve the desired hole.

I'd really prefer not to have to use split and create a complex

irregular polygon shape, but at this point I think this may be my only

option.

Regards,

Andrew

Simply use the restrict layers 41  and 42 .

Draw the shape, be it a rectangle, polygon, circle or wire in the layer

that  relates to the top or bottom layers and the polygon fill will not

fill that area. You can do each time on the board or do it in the

library package so its always done when you use that part.

I think this works well for outer layers, and I make good use of the

restrict layers (and keepouts too), but I don't think this works very

    well for inner layers.

Lorenz suggested using polygon fill type "cutout" which seems to be the

    "official" way of supporting cutouts.
