Disconnecting a part from nets during MOVE

One of the things I would like to be able to do is move a part around the

schematic without the nets following the part.  Same with MIRROR. 

1.  Is there a way to do this?

2.  Is there a way to change the default of always keeping a part connected

to nets?

3.  Is there a way to move a wire end that is connected to a pin so that

the connection is severed?  I don't want to delete the wire.

 

There have been several times I want to mirror a symetrical part so that

the pins conect to opposing wires.

  • if the pins are at the same swap level, pinswap them and then rotate or

    mirror the component. surprisingly image the passives usually have the

    pins at swap level 1 which makes this possible, but polarized passives

    also have the pins at swap level 1, so watch out !!@!

    Thanks Gary,

    That works like a champ for the rotate and mirror.  This is a new concept

    for a 10 year veteran of Orcad.

     

    It does not work so well for say a 20 pin header.  In this case, the

    ability to cut the part and paste it elsewhere so that I could

    rotate/mirror then reattach would be so much easier.

     

    Thanks for giving me one more tool of understanding.

     

    I find it interesting that the CUT command does not cut but copy????

     

    Does anyone know of a ULP that truly will cut and paste like in windows?

    If that's all you want, just delete the part and add it somewhere else.

    Deleting a part tends to break all connections to it.

    Olin,

    While that can be done, it requires the user to go back through the

    library....which is tedious.  And depending on how many libraries you have,

    time consuming.

     

    I did figure a way to do it this morning.  Not too difficult to put as a

    series of commands.

    1.  GROUP what you want to cut.

    2.  CUT the group to put it in the buffer.

    3.  DELETE the group

    4.  PASTE the group

     

    All the reference designators will remain the same so you can do whatever

    one wants to the group without having nets move around.

     

    Hope this helps others.  Now the fun of this newbie trying to figure out

    how to assign this to a hotkey.  Any ideas from any guru?

    That is a dangerous and rare enough operation I wouldn't want it on a hot

    key.
