What do the drill sizes in the menus mean? Actual drill or plated size? Why
are they expressed to so many decimal places? I need a .061 hole for a staked
turret terminal; do I uese that .063xxx drill size? I am used to seeing a
simple selection like .061 in menus of simple programs like the ExpressPCB
designer. What do I wind up with if I just type in .061?

language is since you equate my observation with the sucks comment.
I am trying to use the program, and have run into many problems. I am not
trying to make any friends in Europe, Besides, if I was inclined to try to
influence anybody, which I am not, I would be talking to the big shots at
Newark.
Fortunately there is a Yahoo group for Eagle where the members are nice folks
and genuinely helpful. These Cadsoft Usenet newsgroups seem to be made up of
folks who worship Cadsoft, and useful answers are in short supply.
All that being said, I like the program and will be using it to do our boards.
And thanks for the lecture on what Americans need to learn; it says volumes
about you. I will advise the State Department immediately of your words of
wisdom so they will behave more in accordance with your wishes.

There I go again? Without a doubt Eagle has the worst documentation I
have seen
for a major piece of software in a decade or more. It is written in
pidgin

perhaps you could consider your tone.

endear you to the ones who actually make the software. If I was them, I'd
simply add your name to the kill file and never see another post you make
again. No one wants to read that about something they put a lot of time
into. I'm not saying they are doing it but that's what I'd do. There are
enough people making good suggestions in constructive ways that I don't
need the verbal abuse.
It is true that if you are a native English speaker you can tell that some
of the English has been translated from another language. But not always
and it's not that bad, really. I'm not saying the documentation is a work
of art, but whenever I need to use it my questions are answered most times.
If it's not, I'll ask here and Klaus or someone else at CadSoft will
respond and if necessary they'll update the next version of the docs.
Maybe if you presented your ideas in a more constructive way people might
actually want to listen--and respond. I have a lot of things to do in my
day. I'm happy to answer a question if I have a minute for someone
searching for an answer. But if I know the conversation is going to turn
nasty then I won't bother. So if you want help in the future then take a
pill and relax. Even if all of your suggestions were gold that no one else
had thought about it is still going to be a best case of 6 months to a year
before they get implemented and released.
And as for un-American, this isn't an American board. It's in english but
it's a global village here. There are other ways to win on an issue other
than guns a-blazing. Perhaps something that Americans need to learn in
general--hey you brought it up
And remember, let's all find some peace in our lives this Christmas.
