Drill Sizes

What do the drill sizes in the menus mean?  Actual drill or plated size?  Why

are they expressed to so many decimal places?  I need a .061 hole for a staked

turret terminal; do I uese that .063xxx drill size?  I am used to seeing a

simple selection like .061 in menus of simple programs like the ExpressPCB

designer.  What do I wind up with if I just type in .061?

    Thanks so much for that helpful information.  I was thinking about using

    Advanced since they have been courting me, but I may go with AP Circuits or

    Sunstone since I do not really like the drill size spec.

     

    On that drill table, "Set Drill_menu" is included in the eagle.scr file under

    each editor subheading.  I have no idea if this will do what you want, but I

    noticed it was there.  Seems that it should, but things are seldom as they seem

    in Eagle...

    You can set the hole size to anything appropriate to your need.  I've

    had to use large holes for pins that are rectangular (such as on a

    relay).  For a pin that's .050" wide, I'll add about .010 or more to

    handle the plate-through and a little tolerance for a loose fit.  So a

    hole that's .063" would be fine in this example.  The extra few mils in

    the diameter will help effect easier assembly should any pins be

    slightly bent.
