Whoa, calm down, no need get all huffy.  If you had actually bothered to

read what I wrote, you'd have seen that I was asking question about some

usage I was not familiar with.

I find how words and usage evolves interesting, although sometimes it's not

really evolution but just misuse.  I have rarely seen this usage of ACK

before, but noticed it a lot here.  Then I noticed it came only from

germans, so it seemed possible that ACK somehow evolved a different meaning

in recent german.  I see Tillman says it does mean acknowledge of the

message, so my guess wasn't that far off.  Note that even acknowledgement

of the message is quite different from agreement with it though, so I think

there is yet more to this usage of ACK than Tillman describes.  I also

disagree with him that it's universally common usenet jargon.  It may be

common jargon amongst german speakers.

You can of course say what you wish, although certain choices will be more

widely understood than others.  Some may even have very different meaning

than intended to part of the audience.  My suggestion is to use the

conventions of the language you are writing in.
