Creating a board from one schematic of a project - Content for all schematics seen on board layout

I created my first project. It has several boards that interconnect. So, to make it easier, I created a separate schematic for each board.

When I transitioned to making the first board, all of the components for all of the schematics, including the rats nest interconnecting lines, are in the collage to the left of the layout box.

Is there a way to limit the components that are brought over to the board layout, to the components only in the mating schematic?

A few lucky breaks are that each board's component count is low, not too much use of the same component on multiple boards, and that the interconnecting lines don't cross from one schematic to another. Bringing all of the components for one board in to the layout block

I tried looking for a preference setting and other tips to explain how this flows. I've had no luck so far. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Stephen,

When you say you created a separate schematic for each board, how did you

go about doing this? Do you have separate .sch files for each schematic or

have you just created additional pages from within a single .sch file? It

sounds to me like you may have done the latter. Each separate board will

have it's own .brd file and there must be a corresponding .sch file.

    Best Regards,

I have 5 sheets within one .sch file. I take it that this does not create 5 sub-schematics under one file.

So, now I need to create a new .sch file for each of the sheets created. Will I have to recreate each of the new drawings from scratch? Or, is there an easier cut-and-paste?

    Hi Stephen,

You can  do it with the group select, cut, paste group commands with two

copies of Eagle open but it's probably not the quickest way. It might be

simplest to make four more copies of your current schematic and then just

open them in turn and delete the additional schematic sheets from each of

them so you end up with each schematic sheet in their own file.

    Best Regards,

    Rachael,

Thanks for your help! I think copying the file, and editing out the extra, would be easier.
