How connect grab point of a component to the GND

Question

Hi all, I can't find how I can connect the grab point of a component (for example an micro USB port) to the GND. Does anyone know how I could do that ? I'm using eagle 8.3.2. Thank you for your time

Yes, that's was I said. Just a pad or via can be connected to a power or signal. A virtual point is impossibel. It is virtual, not real; it's a marking point. You've just placed a pad on this place where the grab point was. A grab point will be used e.g. for placing the parts on the pcb with an placing automate. So this issue is that must placed (drawn) the grab points on an separate layer (PCB-editor) in Eagle. You can than switch on/off this layer if you like to use it. In PCB-editor just generate a new layer called grab point; layers over 100 are free to use. Or two layers, one for the top side, one for the bottom side. Normally the layers 21 (tplace) and 22 (bplace) are used for placing the parts on the pcb. This is default. But you can generate such layers for special placement, e.g. placement variants or for special mechanical behavior. Tip: In Eagle you will find a ULP file that generates data-sets for placements automates. Best Regards Gerald ---

Hi,

"grab point" ? - connecting to an electrical connection?

You can only connect electrical components to a signal or power connection.

There are normally Pins, Vias, Wires.

All other components are just graphically drawn.

And they are must drawn in their given layer.

Please read the manual also the tutorial manual as well.

You will find what is an electrical or a mechanical component, or a virtual "component" as well.

A grab point i a virtual "component" (devise), like the margin point as well.
