Hi all,

I can't find how I can connect the grab point of a component (for example an micro USB port) to the GND. Does anyone know how I could do that ?

I'm using eagle 8.3.2.

Hi, "grab point" ? - connecting to an electrical connection? You can only connect electrical components to a signal or power connection. There are normally Pins, Vias, Wires. All other components are just…

Yes, that's was I said. Just a pad or via can be connected to a power or signal. A virtual point is impossibel. It is virtual, not real; it's a marking point. You've just placed a pad on this place where…

Yes I didn't know the correct word for this, but I meant the point to attach the component on the board.

Im wondering if there is a translation issue here.. "Grab point" could

be the shield, the electrical point of the connector that gets touched,

    or connects first.

I prefer routing shield separately from ground both to avoid spikes and

ESD from the environment to go through my electronics, but this is a

topic on its own. The solution depends on how the apparatus gets

connected to the world.. or not.

    Hi,

Firstly I also thought this. But here it seems there is not a translation issue.

Grab point - "Haltepunkt" (German, the translator translates this word correctly) does exist, as the margin,

respective the center point of the device for picking up this device.
And so if I understand him right, he means this center point.

Shielding - "Abschirmung" (German), the translator translates this word correctly as well.

    Hopefully I understood it well.

    Best Regards

    Gerald
