Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

I'm having issues invoking a hidden reference pin on a shunt regulator in eagle. the case style is SOT-23-3.

Every time I try to invoke it I get the error that the "part has only 1 gate"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Please attach the library file or describe where it is so we can

    evaluate it.

Take a closer look at the library. It's not done like that.

The "hidden reference pin" is provided by using the LM4041*I component

instead of the LM4041. This is because the adjustable (3-pin) device is

a fundamentally different device from the fixed 1.2V (2-pin) one,

regardless of whether TI decided to give them suspiciously similar names.

Eagle does not support components with variable numbers of schematic

pins so they must be treated as different devices.

I wish I had waited for your reply. I ended up essentially creating a new device and adding the pin in myself image your way is a lot cleaner.

The longer I work with eagle the more  I realize the importance of every character in a name...

Thank you for the help! Definitely good knowing the reasoning behind it.
