Copy board layout and have schematic synced

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

I have a board that has 20 copies of the same charging circuit and I need to copy the physical layout 20 times (in .brd) while showing up in the schematic correct.  I know how to copy the schematic and I know how to copy the board layout (without keeping .brd and .sch in sync)

I will appreciate any help!

Using EagleCAD 6.6.0 PRO

The best way to copy a single design multiple designs is to use the import tool in eagle.

    Create a new blank board.

Go to file and select import.

Navigate to the file you would like to import

The schematic should be automatically updated as a new sheet. You will need to adjust what the net names and eagle will try to connect the nets it deems appropriate.

Great advice!  I was unable to do it the same way you said but almost. Here is the revised instructions.

Given a board layout and schematic that you would like to copy.

    1. Open your *.brd and *.sch files.

    2. Switch to your *.brd file.

    3. Go to File>Import and select the same *.brd file.
    4. Place all components. (this will add a identical sheet to your *.sch file)

    5. For components that are unwanted switch to your *.sch file and delete them from your new sheet.

I appreciate the help Osi Van Dessel!
