v7.3.0 GUI Update? (Release Notes)

• Library overview screen that enables the user to see the complete chosen library at a glance. The user can easily rename and remove devices, packages and symbols directly from the library overview screen
  
  
• New library cross-references: direct access from the library overview to the cross referenced packages and symbols for devices. Back-references to devices are also available with one click.
  
  
• New and simplified full library context view and easy submenu access available. Descriptions can be viewed and changed directly from context menu
  
  
• Additional icon and command to view full library structure with one click

In my view these are much needed requests from users and not so much a major change.

That is actually really awesome. It looks like it cuts out the need to ever jump into a text editor to manage libraries. 

Hopefully the cross-referencing works like I hope it does, just not finding documentation on it.

Ok, so I updated to new version. I use osx and well... 7.2 was better. Why? Because of how magic mouse works. In 7.2 it work like it would work on web pages, ie. move schematic or layout up/down/left/right while moving my finger. Now it zooms in and out. It is impossible to place any components anywhere, because small movement of my finger zooms schematic or layout wildly in and out. Only way is to disable the zoom all together, but then I stil don't have a way to move around schematic in any easy way.

It's very easy to zoom with keyboard, you don't need mouse for that. With bigger schematics it is much more user friendly to move easily around schematic with just moving your finger, not mouse and use side bars.

I want my 7.2 back!

Some day I learn not to update software that works for me. This was not that day.

Eagle on Windows installs each new version as a separate program. This does not happen on OSX?

Yeah, the change from '2 finger slide = scroll' to '2 finger slide = zoom' makes 7.3.0 pretty much unusable in OS X. You can make it less tweaky by bumping "Option->User Interface->Mouse wheel zoom" down to 1.05 or so, but the basic problem still remains.

Jason: Yes, OS X does that too, but I *think* (I could be wrong) that the installer updates the Eagle icon in the Dock to point to the new version.

I've noticed no issues with the newer version and it runs great. Just

Considering EAGLE is natively developed under OpenSuSE this is

worrisome. Do you have multiple instances of EAGLE open at the same

time, make sure you are only running one at a time.

Is there any procedure or screenshot you could provide to help narrow

this down. If anything send me an e-mail to support@cadsoftusa.com.

I don't know if it's relevant, but I've seen this behaviour on older

versions (back to v4.16) on Gentoo, with some window managers but not

others. The impression I got was that the toggle icon would attempt to

bring the other editor into focus but fail, possibly because the WM

ignored it. However, that was just a gut feeling, not anything I could

point to evidence for.

Hi Jorge,

no, I don't have multiple Eagle sessions open, but I do have more

information.

New files (or those where the .epf has been updated to 7.3.0 open OK.

Old version files exhibit the problem, but I saw that the non-appearing

file (board or schematic, depending on which was opened first) was

actually open but minimised.

So it looks like a window manager thing, somewhat as Rob Pearce suggested.
