Printed Text on Circuit Board

Former Member
Former Member over 15 years ago

I am new to this software. What layer do I use to insert text that will

be printed on the top side of a manufactured circuit board. I am

guessing that it is the dimension layer 20 but am not sure. I can't find

the necessary information in the manual.

You don't say if you want the text to appear in etch (metal) or

silkscreen.    For etch you can put text directly into the top (or

bottom) layers of the board....of course you have to be careful that the

etched letters don't short important stuff!

For silkscreen on the top of the board common layers to use are tPlace,

Document, or tDocu.   Whatever layer you pick,  you also have to make

sure that the CAM job setup includes that layer in the output gerber for

    the silkscreen layer.
