Configuration Files

Hello

I'm a bit confused on how Eagle starts up and how it is configured between

universal, user and project.

I was playing around and decided to run the eagle.scr script just to see

what it does.  It seems that since I ran it the program doesn't seem to

store configuration for any particular window any more.  I'll open a

schematic for example and set the grid.  Later after I do some work with it

and save it....when I reopen the grid is NOT what it was before.  It is

really annoying having to set the grid again.  I KNOW this can't be

correct.  I must have done something when I ran the eagle.scr script.

So what do the files do and when are they saved? :

Eagle.scr

Eagle.usr

Eagle.epf

While we are at it, what gives with the part of the Help file right at the

beginning called "Command Line Options".  It implies a command called

"EAGLE" but there is no way to invoke it.  Is this supposed to be in

Windows Explorer or something.  I don't get it.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi there,

I have a question about the "eaglerc.usr" files. Does it possible to copy it (eg. from my PC to my Laptop)? Looks like not trivial to do this, as the user can't write this file just Eagle.

What do you suggest to save and copy my hot-keys (I have tons of hotkeys settings which is a pain to re-programm each time...)?

    Thanks,

    Zoltan

    Hi Zoltan,

I hope you're doing well. In older versions of EAGLE we would recommend

to place your hotkey definitions in the eagle.scr file. You could then

easily copy that file from installation to installation. In newer

versions we've added the default-assign.scr file, which is called from

    eagle.scr to setup defaults.
