Devices on Schematic, but not on PCB

How can I have devices on the schematic diagram, but not on the PCB ?

On my schematic I want to draw some devices who are external to the PCB,

essentially to have the complete thing on the same diagram. Some of the

devices are external to the PCB. What do I have to do for Eagle to know

about that and not to insist the I place an route them ?

Define a new layer >100 (e.g. not-on-brd or similar) & draw your parts on

that layer. It is also possible to create a new lbr if some parts are used

very often. I made such a lbr, if you are interested, send a mail.

So, if I understand you correctly I have to create special devices in a

special library where I define the pins and stuff in a layer which does

not show up on the PCB/brd ?

Is there a way to just move the devices I have now to such a layer,

    without starting from scratch ?

You can move the devices to the new lbr & then change their layers to the

new one - I use layer 120. Use no packages. See the attached picture.

i'm not sure what the point in using a separate layer is. You can draw your

stuff in any symbol layer and just leave out the packages.
