Any help finding a replacement for it is appreciated.

The LM5045/LM5046 is not a direct replacement since they're SOIC28. I need a proper drop-in replacement. There's a ton of them on AliExpress: Shop A4970SLBT online Gallery - Buy A4970SLBT for unbeatable low prices on AliExpress.com
But they're probably far from genuine and not as reliable as a genuine part, so i was hoping that i didn't need to resort to that.

They might be no drop-in replacement from another manufacturer. If you've checked the websites of the major IC manufacturers for their drivers in SOIC-24 and done a quick comparison and come up short then ask the manufacturer (Allegro) for where to source it if you don't trust the online vendors.

Where did you look for these online? I just put your part number into Octopart and it turns out it's in stock at Newark (1284 currently in stock) and RS (Octopart says 557 but there are actually 25 currently in stock when you click through).

Since i live in Sweden i look at Farnell, which is Element14's europe equivalent to Newark. And there's no A4970SLBT there. I could order from the US but then the shipping would be incredibly expensive. But maybe this part is simply not available in Europe at all? I've checked other suppliers as well with no result.

How many parts are you after? There are 25 available in stock from RS. Also if you go to the Allegro website and do a stock check from there it shows that there are 1000 in stock in the UK at a distributor called Solid State Supplies. Depending on your required volume the cost from shipping from Newark in the US might not be prohibitive and possibly considerably cheaper than having to rework your boards to use a different part.

It's very small volume. Minimum order from Solid State Supplies is $100. So i guess that's out of the picture. I might order from the US anyway then. Thank you for all the help. image

Well it's definitely available in Europe in small volumes, looking on the Swedish RS site it has them listed with the same quantity of 25 available as on the UK site I originally looked at, likely from the same european warehouse: http://se.rs-online.com/web/p/motor-driver-ics/7532034/

Good luck, I hope you can find all you need to get your project finished.
