Remember ALL window positions when QUITTING.

HI,

 

I am not sure if this has been asked before..

 

When opening EagleCad, the Control panel appears in the middle of the

screen. ( yep that's about it!)

 

I would like to have Eaglecad remember EVERY WINDOW and its POSITION SAVED,

when eagle cad quits. then when you re-open EagleCad, all your windows will

be as they were when you last left it!

 

Its very annoying at the moment..

 

especially when writing ULP's that I have to open a project ( for testing)

place it and resize it where I last left it.Open the help window, place it

and resize it where I last left it. reposition the Control panel resize it

where I last left it.open up my last ULP ( and maybe a few more), resize it

and position it. click though the menus of the control panel to find my

last project.. etc

 

this gets tedious.

 

I see no reason why, when eagle cad quits , it just records ..

 

1) The window(s) that were opened

2) The size of each window

3) the position of each window.

4) the stacking order

5) The current state of the hierarchy menus in the control panel.

 

This should be done for ALL windows ( including help, ulps, etc)

This should not effect anyones workflow, only improve it.

 

What do you guys think?

    Your systems are known to behave different from average.

    with the first PC I bought that offered it, a Compaq laptop. That was

    almost 20 years ago and I never looked back.

     

    I think that is very related to the software installed and

    running. There are many bad drivers out there and there are many bad

    programs that run in the background. If one fails the hibernate cycle, you

    end up with a messed up system.

    I think that is very related to the software installed and

    running. There are many bad drivers out there and there are many bad

    programs that run in the background. If one fails the hibernate cycle, you

    end up with a messed up system.

     

     

    Then you can just restart. Very little time lost.

     

    However, I make sure that I buy name-brand systems with well-validated

    drivers. Software that is of questionable quality gets voted off the

    island almost immediately. With a lesser quality system I don't doubt

    that there could be massive problems.

     

    As I wrote, I do this since the early 90's and never had problems. I

    remember sitting next to folks on very long flights and their Thinkpads

    took forever to boot. Their eyes popped wide open when they saw me

    typing away 15sec after the stewardess had cleared our tray tables.

    From my experience, problems with drivers are easiest to solve. The hardest

    part is to configure the software and services that you will use, and to

    choose good antivirus/firewall/etc software. In my case, system will either

    not enter into hibernation, either locked my keypad after resume... changed

    Kaspersky for an other security software and problems are gone.

     

     

    A lot of times it's also that people think "Oh dang, it trashed this or

    that". For example, in the morning when I turn it on it first fails to

    recognize the office file server. All you have to do to "fix" this is

    get a coffee (I have one anyhow every morning), come back and ... voila

    ... all servers are now there.
